Alesis Midverb II and Lexicon Alex Impulse Response Packs

Here is something different from the usual sample packs. Lately, I've been experimenting with convolution reverbs. Given the response of a particular space (or preset), the convolution reverb can determine how a particular sound might interact with that space. There are a few different ways to measure the response of a space. The packs provided below use a short, sharp transient to excite the space. The resulting response is then recorded as an audio file, which can be loaded into a convolution reverb plugin. In this case, testing with done with Live 9 Suite, which includes a suitable plugin as part of Max for Live.

Two units were measured, both budget units. The Alesis Midiverb II is a quirky little preset full of gritty goodness. the Bloom reverbs in particular are my favorite. The Alex from Lexicon is another almost entirely preset unit with some crunchy textural processing. Decay can be adjusted on this unit, so measurements have been had with 5 different settings from extra small to extra large. The plate settings are useful on this unit.

Both packs can be downloaded from the Sample Packs page. If you've enjoyed these, please let me know as there are other units that could also be measured in a similar fashion.
