Bent Landscapes

Statement

Ambient soundscapes produced by bent synthesizers combine well with footage of the rocky coasts of Maine as seen through the digital sludge of outdated video editing software. The video is a low res compilation of various experiments overusing the filters and effects in basic video editing software.

The audio was produced using a bent Yamaha PSR-6 and a bent Casio SK-1. The data lines from the Frequency Modulation chip in the PSR-6 and some lines from the keyboard scanning circuit are brought to the front using a bolt bay. The connections are then scrambled using alligator wires to produce some of the strange textures. Similarly, the SK-1 had lines from the data bus brought out to switches for modification of sampled sounds.

The footage was shot at Fort Williams in Cape Elizabeth and Cascade Falls in Saco.
